Brown Pleather and Ribbon Fish-Kinchaku

$30.00

This cute bag is shaped and scaled like a fish! It makes me think it should be hanging from the wrist of a geisha or maiko wearing late summer or fall colors. Normally they carry hard-bottomed drawstring bags called Kinchaku.

This bag closes with a drawstring, and closes with a braided set of cords. The strap is 2″ wide and stiffened with pleather along the back. The strap and the braided cording are made from a vintage belt. The main outer fabric is a brown upholstery pleather, and the scales are made of red grosgrain ribbon. The bag is lined with some vintage red polka-dotted satin. The eyeballs are made of a pair of cheap earrings, which have been altered and sewn on, then reenforced with glue. This attachment was then painted with metallic gold paint, so that it looks like a fish’s eye stalk.

Measures:
16″ long, 8″ wide at the tail, and 2″ thick laid flat
